Happy Thanksgiving! : The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade :)
Happy Thanksgiving my beauties! :D Now I know that I have done a lot of posts about Thanksgiving. But, today I want to make a very special one since Thanksgiving is here! :D We will be talking about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! So let's get started! :) For the past 80 years everyone has joined together to celebrate Thanksgiving at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade located in Central Park, Macy's Herald Square, New York. This year it is the 85th annual Parade. It takes a lot of work to prepare for the parade. It takes about a year to make the floats for the parade! The day before Thanksgiving day billions of New Yorkers and even other people from different countries come together just to watch this awesome and fun parade and they sleep there, on the sidewalk to be the first ones to be there. All of the directors, engineers, artists, crew member and more, all prepare for the parade the two days before Thanksgiving. It takes them a day to prepare. That must be a long night for them! :p In the parade there are marching bands, Broadway performances, floats, and huge balloons and more! Floats are made out of special technices that the art designers do with just a big piece of clay they can do a huge float for a huge parade! It must take the performers a lot of work to prepare themselves because they are performing in a live audience with people that are not only from New York but from other countries too. They always say that practice makes you better! Balloon preparation is done the NIGHT before the parade and Thanksgiving. The thanksgiving day parade is a 48 hour whirlwide activity! There are 25 floats, 44 balloons, and dozens of push floats. The entire floats go through the famous Lincoln Tunnel and much more to get ready for the parade. The floats are animation characters. or example, they have Dora, Lil Bill, Blues Clue's and much more! The crew workers start inflating the balloons early morning. When the parade starts they are still inflating them! They rush quickly to the parade to start the floats. It takes them an hour and a half to inflate the balloons! All of the balloons go around the corner of the parade about 6-7 minutes. When they are done with the balloons they pack them up for next year.
